Your Private Mainframe

The 'Big Irons' aka IBM Mainframes and their operating systems still make the world go round.

Now you can have your own, private mainframe computer at home. On your PC. Enjoy the power of MVS, MVT, or VM on your Linux or Windows Desktop/Notebook. Thanks to Hercules it's possible now.

Running these old operating systems is fun! But you can also learn a lot about those systems. And the best thing is that you don't have to be a system guru to get it working.

On this website you find materials on MVS and MVT (well, after I got MVS running I dropped MVT for the moment, so that area will probably not grow much). Over the time I hope to add some more software, tutorials and samples.

About This Website

This website is optimized for MS Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator Version 4 or higher. The recommended minimum resolution/window size is 800x600 pixel and 16 bit color. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used. As of current, no 'cookies' are used. You'll find a few uses of JavaScript, but that's only for the fancy things (like mouseover effects), so it should not cause any problems if you've turned it off in your browser.

Your Privacy

Aside from the normal server log files, no information about visitors is collected on this site. The MVS binary download is password protected to keep control of the bandwidth used only. If you contribute, please tell me if you want your name/email/web address posted. Links to other web sites are not under my control and different privacy rules may apply. All external links in this website will open in a separate browser window (unless your browser doesn't support it).
